Kendrick Lamar - Training Day (2005)
Every time I look at the cover of this, I see it as Kendrick Lamar wearing the Chris-Chan shirt and look for the Sonichu medallion to no luck. Shit!
Not even gonna bullshit to pad out this review for whatever reason: The tracks are all mostly the same mixtape filler that you could expect from an average, non-critically acclaimed mixtape from someone you'd get off of the street while waiting to get into the Young Republicans' Center, y'know? That combined with the fact that it's 78 minutes long.. Is it a training day for fighting ear fatigue or what? Because I sure lost my ass on that one. Seriously, even if you're the absolute best artist in the world, 78 minutes is a fuckin' BATTLE, alright? Be a cool guy and trim the fucking fat! While I'm bitching: Jay Rock kinda sounds like someone doing a "2001"-era Dr. Dre impersonation. Maybe he'll be in a Las Vegas casino as an impersonator one day, maybe as a musical about Dr. Dre's life where he gets the inspiration to write and rap out "Still D.R.E." while in the court room with Dee Barnes. One could only create a Kickstarter and hope.
