XXXTentacion - Willy Wonka Was a Child Murderer (2016)
This EP finds XXXTesticularTorsion saying "AYYYY FUCK THAT TRAP SHIT" and making post-hardcore/emo, which I think is REALLY fucking cool for him to do.. But not that great to listen to! Sure, the opening track "Valentine" is pretty alright for a lo-fi indie track, provided you don't recognize that one of the drums is a stock drum sound in FL Studio, but then it gets into the screamier shit with "King" and "Willy Wonka Was a Child Murder (feat. King Yosef)" and it's really interesting that he did it, because it genuinely sounds like a (shitty production aside) post-hardcore band and not a dude fucking around with the idea of making a post-hardcore song.. But it just doesn't go anywhere. With both tracks having run-times of under two minutes, there's no real emotional build-up to the explosion that makes it feel justified, which is a huge part of post-hardcore music. This EP's existence is really quite fascinating, but it just.. It just FUCKS THE DOG! Is that a metaphor the kid use nowadays? "Hey, you really fucked my dog back there!"? "Look out, buddy: You're fucking my dog in the ass!!"?? "Look at that dog! It just slipped Lindsay Lohan a five buck-aroo under the table and now it's in the backseat of a red 2008 Honda Accord in the parking lot of Walgreens getting FUCKED!!!"??? It means you're fucking up, alright? Fuck off, you're sick.
