Sinsaenum - Echoes of the Tortured (2016)
Sin-Say-Numb? Why name a band that?
I'm calling it now: Literally the only reason you're reading this review or have/will go on to listen to the album is because Joey Jordison is behind the drum kit. It's alright to just fucking admit that even if you put on a "SLIPKNOT SUXXX" bravado, you fuck with the first two studio albums and his drumming. You're safe here. You may be saying to yourself "but the band also has members of Mayhem, Dragonforce, and other bands no one listens to anymore!" and sure, I'll say "b-but people still kinda listen to Mayhem I think" but you pretty much nailed it otherwise. The songs are boring, the vocals provided by Attila Csihar (of Mayhem fame) seem kinda weak to me, and overall the music seems like it's too scared to actually be a black/death metal band, but more like a pretty shitty hard rock version of it, as to not scare away too many fans of Joey Jordison's. That being said, if you want to see a good recent black/death metal supergroup, look at Scour. Now THAT shit kicks ass and fucks mine.
