Before finding out that it means "Stone Mountain", my friend thought it meant "Satan Mountain". How dope as fuck would it be to get a black metal album from Gambino??

Released for free as part of a double-album, "STN MTN" finds Childish Gambino imagining himself as the king of Atlanta, Georgia, going over beats that he loved and all that shit, probably most notably being "Go DJ" by Lil Wayne, who is pretty much Gambino's biggest influence. Let's give him a round of applause: HELL YEAH ANOTHER FREE MIXTAPE FROM CHILDISH MCMOTHERFUCKING GAMBINO!! Wait.. More struggle-bars?! "Fuck with your boy like a pedophile"?! Shitty beats that were only really interesting ten years ago? Oh FUCK. The more you listen to this, the more it falls apart. Since Gambino isn't a convincing "I'm the shit" rapper, it sounds like your classmate (who is actually decent at rapping, you gotta give that to him) who always talks about "I just gotta keep workin' on this tape" actually released a mixtape and yeah, it's far from being awful, but you hear his bars about being the shit, a real tough motherfucker, etc, and you don't take it seriously at all because you know that guy, and he's a goofy son of a bitch. Love me some Gambino when it's done well, but this is like the audible equivalent of someone getting you normal bread for your sandwich at Subway instead of Italian Herbs & Cheese. Yeah, you can appreciate it for what it is, but you know what you -really- wanted...
