I'm not even sure if most of this shit IS English.

Two common thoughts upon listening to Desiigner for the first time are "What is he saying?!" and "Wait.. You're telling me right now that this ISN'T Future?!" and truth be told, I CAN'T TELL A FUCKING DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DESIIGNER'S AND FUTURE'S VOICES! I know that's become somewhat of a meme by now, but when Kanye West's "The Life of Pablo" dropped earlier this year, I sincerely thought Future was featured on certain songs that it turned out to be Desiigner, and people weren't even sure if his stage-name was Desiigner or Panda. This kinda shit doesn't just happen by coincidence, I'm pretty sure that Desiigner desiigned himself from the ground-up to be a clone of Future, and he woulda succeeded, too, if it weren't for his CONSTANT adlibs of "*machine gun noise* GRRARRGHH!!" and "GIT GIT GIT!!" in the background that oddly hype me the fuck up. The hypest song on the entire mixtape is none other than the aggressive "Make It Out" which sees Desiigner completely abandoning autotune and thinking "Shit, I can be G-Herbo too" and destroying the track with his cut-throat yell-rapping, or whatever the hell that shit is called. Look, it is fucking LIT and that's what I want you to know. Do you know it now? Re-read that shit.

I gotta be honest with you: When a website is set up for people to guess at just what the fuck you're saying in your songs, and they're consistently blown away by what the actual answer is, then that's pretty hilarious but also pretty bad at the same time. When you think about it, the most thought-provoking thing about Desiigner's music is that it's similar to death metal and all of that shit in a way is immediately noticed by people: DISCERNIBLE LYRICS AREN'T NEEDED!! You can mumble absolutely anything, even literal gibberish into the microphone and ain't no damn person gonna know the difference, and as long as it sounds good, no one's really gonna give a shit. That being said, maybe it's best that you can't understand what the hell Desiigner is saying because his lyrics are pretty awful, but it's not like that matters when your production is this loud and banging. You think girls in the club give a shit that he's not Eyedea? Nah... Although they would've had a killer collab. R.EYE.P.

"Caliber", "Make It Out", "Da Day" and "Panda" are the highlights, and there's a certain level of enjoyment to be found with the spacey "Zombie Walk (feat. King Savage)", but while the rest are fun to a degree, it's so fuckin' hard to actually sit through this mixtape because it's all basically the same shit over and over, and given that some of the mixing is awful, and how a fair bit of these tracks just suddenly end in the middle of Desiigner saying something (Seriously, did they not even fucking bother to finish a lot of these songs? They feel like snippets), it's just kind of a frustrating mixtape to listen to all the way through in one session, no matter how hard some of the songs bang in the whip. The good tracks make me excited to see what Desiigner will do next, but the more I listen to it, it makes me feel like I need to take a Tylenol just to continue on. Seriously, the fuck is that? Even worse is when I'm vibing to a track pretty hard one second, and then it just abruptly ends out of nowhere. Do you take me for a bitch or something? I don't fuck with that shit, why be a cocktease? Bitchass motherfucker.
