Necro - Rare Demos and Freestyles Volume 1 (2001)
If you thought "I Need Drugs" was raw, you have no idea: These songs sound like SHIT! I guess because most of these tracks seem to have been recorded from 1994-1995, and it shows: Necro's saying "nigga" more than ever! He also sounds like he has a sore throat a lot, with a much raspier voice on this compilation than "I Need Drugs", almost like he's trying to imitate DMX. That coupled with the fact that he's rapping about rape a LOT more on this compilation than anything else I've ever heard from him, maybe that shows Necro actually DOES have a limit, or someone pulled him aside and beat his ass, but Necro doesn't sound like the type of guy to admit to shit like that.
Well, a quick listen of this album shows why Necro (at least, to my knowledge) never redid any of these tracks: They're all pretty stereotypical horrorcore that I can only imagine angry teenagers getting enjoyment out of, because although some of the beats are kinda catchy, they sound like shit due to the recording quality, so when Necro's rapping with a sore throat about whatever shit he supposedly does, he doesn't really have the production to fall back on as a safety net, especially with "Butcher Knife" which is NINE MINUTES LONG! Shit doesn't need to be that long!
Necro severely overkills his lyrical gimmick in these old songs, which is a shame, but also interesting to see how Necro progressed from it, such as verses from "Your Fuckin' Head Split" off of "I Need Drugs" appearing as a freestyle in "Wsou Seton Hall 89.5 Live Freestyle '99", but overall, not even the remix of "The Most Sadistic" from "I Need Drugs" is worth checking out, and that was one of the best songs off of that album! Ugh, I need drugs to get through the disappointment.
