The Dillinger Escape Plan - Live, Unshaven, and Misbehavin': Live Infinity (2003)
It should go without saying that a Dillinger Escape Plan concert will fuck your face off, and here's a live EP to prove that.
Mama mia, papa pia, somebody's got that shitty sounding DEP live album! Oh damn, it's ME!! Taken from a concert back in 2000 when they were still fronted by vocalist Dimitri Minakakis, this is a very short (nine fuckin' minutes!) collection of some finger-poppin' tunes from "Under the Running Board" and "Calculating Infinity", mainly the hits that charted over in Croatia during a particularly hot summer, the Dillinger Real Estate Plan had everybody out in the streets, singing along and playing air-guitar to their phat beats. This live album is pretty much a perfect representation of how batshit insane their live shows were back in around 2000 or so, with Dimitri Minakakis' vocal ability holding up strikingly well live, along with the band in general generally acing everything just as perfectly as the studio equivalents, which is FUCKING INSANE when you actually listen to what they're doing! Ben Weinman will NEVER get his proper dues as a guitarist, and Chris Pennie is one HELL of a drummer, dammit!!
That being said, the band musta been really confident in their bassist Liam Wilson because his bass is the most audible thing in all of the songs by far! That's fine with me, because much like literally every other member of the band, he oozes (eww) a shitload of talent onto that fuckin' musical instrument that he uses to make sounds. The mixes generally sound kind of shitty, but when you have THIS much concentrated and carefully planned/executed noise, how could you not? I'm sure if they were touched up anymore, they'd be virtually identical to their studio originals, which sure says a shitload about the ability of this band to create crazy shit and then pull it off live without any problem. If you close your eyes while listening to this, and occasionally punch yourself in the face, I imagine it feels just like a REAL DEP concert!!.. Not that I would know because I've missed them due to various reasons every time they've come to town and they're about to break up, but HEY! FUCK MY STUPID FUCKING LIFE!!!
