Their influence on the deathcore genre as a whole cannot be denied. If you like a deathcore band, it's incredibly likely they formed because of either Bring Me The Horizon, Whitechapel, or Suicide Silence blowing their minds. The vocalist Mitch Lucker (R.I.P.) has spawned many teenagers in their bedrooms trying to whisper-scream and growl into laptop microphones, and despite that sounding shitty, at least it's somethin', right?

So here we find them with their first EP, a self-titled (what's with a lot of bands' first EPs being self-titled?) effort that's reasonably decent. Shit, did I immediately give away my feelings of this EP? Please, PLEASE stick around for the end of the review! There might be something great there!!

This is pretty standard deathcore, nothing great but nothing outright terrible. The vocals are the highlight of every song, with black-metal influenced high-screams, and low, gravel-like growls, but none of the songs are really highlights, as they tend to blend into each other. The only track that really sounds different from any of the rest is the last track, "Destruction of a Statue", which is a live track.

Hey wait a second! "Destruction of a Statue" basically steals a riff from Avenged Sevenfold's "Unholy Confessions"! Sure, it's a little different, but why would you go on and do that? You never hear about Blake Shelton stealing any sweetass riffs from Luke Bryan! Maybe SOME people are classier than others, mr. Suicide Silence, if that even is your real name!!

I said there MIGHT be something great at the end of the review but there's not. Whattaya want from me??
