Eminem - Infinite (1996)

Eminem, Infinite, first album, debut album, 1996, Slim Shady, Marshall Mathers

Before CHIKA-CHIKA SLIM SHAAADY there was one man, and his name was Marshall Mathers, and his name still is Marshall Mathers, with a debut album that one can only assume from the name is a concept album about Olive Garden breadsticks.

His debut album Illma- INFINITE is pretty neat at points, but the Nas influence absolutely cannot be denied. The album sounds like it's Eminem trying to make his own version of Illmatic, but fortunately enough for him, it's pretty decent. It's also really good for seeming like a complete dickhead on internet forums by saying it's the only release of his you like!!

Denaun 'Kon Artis' Porter of D12 produced the entire album and because of that, a lot of the beats have the same kind of feel, which prevents it from being great, but the rippity-rappity-rap-rap rhyme schemes are insane! You can tell a lot of time and work went into the lyrics and flow, which almost excuses the beats, which aren't anything terrible, but nothing you can really bump in the whip.

Unfortunately, no matter how insane your rhyme schemes and how fluid your flows are, if your actual songs don't sound that good, and don't have much variety, you probably won't churn out that entertaining of a product and Infinite is a good example of that. It's an interesting album to listen to, in an almost nostalgic "Oh shit, this is from before he was famous!" kind of way even if it's not nostalgic for you personally, but this probably won't end up being your go-to Eminem album unless you're some tryhard "real hip-hop head" on internet forums.

6/10
