Pyrithion - The Burden of Sorrow (2013)
The last project Tim Lammy-B was able to drop before he went all #THOTPATROL and found himself in the pen. Dude's a real piece of shit for what he did (or rather, what he wanted to do) but this EP fucking KILLS. Imagine As I Lay Dying without the good-cop-bad-cop vocals, more musical technicality, and generally just harder-hitting and you've got Pyrithion in a nutshell. Sure, some of the lyrics are clumsy (if you can even understand them), with the EP opening with the clumsiest lyric of them all "AM I THE INVENTION OF HATRED?.. OR WAS HATRED BORN IN ME?!" which sounds like some "poetry" I would've written and put up as my MSN Messenger status message when I was 14, and it just makes me fucking shudder like a winter's breeze just unexpectedly flew into the room. Past all that, there's catchy bits, there's more tasty chuggy-mcnuggy riffs than you can swallow without a glass of water to help it down the ol' pipes, and Tim Lambesis sounds pretty fucking great, and if you can't understand him, you can still sing along with the rest of your Sunday school class by screaming "KILL THAT BITCH" in time with the riffs!! Ah, has anyone made a joke about "this is music to kill your wife to"?.. They have? Well, fuck. Well you know what this music is ALSO good for? IMAGINING yourself killing your wife!! Haha oh MAAAN here's another Christmas gift for dad!!
