Oddy Nuff da Snow Leopard - Pluto (2014)
Ah, Oddy Nuff da Snow Leopard, a real rap legend.. Okay, Ruby da Cherry, alright? Fucking love his voice. To cut this shit relatively short, if you check this out expecting it to basically be a $UICIDEBOY$ solo release with only Ruby da Cherry rapping (well, aside from the guest appearances which is just K. Gotti on "$mooth a$ Fuck (feat. K. Gotti)" and $crim on three other tracks) then you're gonna be shit outta luck because most of the beats sound like some shit that they'd never rap over as a duo, very poppy and happy, but it's good for what it is, and that's a fun little album with some bouncy beats, generally happy "look at me, I'm the fucking shit and YOU'RE NOT" atmosphere, and enough charm to make it seem like Ruby da Cherry really could've succeeded as a pop-rapper if he had gone down that route instead, even if it would've deprived us of some fucking -killer- releases. That being said, it lacks a certain level of substance that you'd probably expect, with this much more likely to go down as a fun album to throw on occasion / throw some songs into your shuffle playlist, rather than some unknown classic album that slipped under everyone's radars. Still, if you're a fan of the boys at G59, you owe it to yourself to check out their roots, and Ruby's first full-length attempt at rapping is nothing to write off.
