Jay Rock - Watts Finest Vol. 1 (2006)
Someone else said it best: The original mixtape cover DOES look like a fuckin' Dave Chappelle skit.
If you had ever wondered how the ending of "8 Mile" would've gone if it were Eminem vs. Jay Rock: "Jay Rock? More like "GAY COCK"! LIKE WHAT'S IN -MY- ASS!!" and then Eminem would drop the microphone as the audience explodes into applause, and generally be held up as the master of the freestyle, hip-hop personified. Jay Rock and all of his friends who appear on this mixtape (most notably Kendrick Lamar) are all pretty good and generally have punchlines coming out the ass like diarrhea just falling out of a cleft asshole, but not much here is really that interesting, despite being one of the more tolerable mixtapes I've heard from the ringtone-rap era, but I guess that's really not saying that much. He still kinda sounds like a "2001"-era Dr. Dre to me, which can be a bit hard to shake, but you know what's NOT hard to shake? Me with my essential tremors. Feel free to ask me "why are you nervous?" when handing money to a cashier, I promise it's comedy gold, dude!! I'm not tired of hearing that!! No, not at all!!
5/10
