Devin Townsend - Ass-Sordid Demos II (2004)
I can't even slightly tell what the album cover is going to be, if it's not just a bunch of random bullshit. Very avant-garde, Devy.
Motherfucker! MORE demos from when Hevy Devy was a young'n! A young'n with HAIR!! It's kinda interesting to see how some of these songs developed into songs that made it onto studio albums, like how "Sunmud/Woman" is comprised of demos that'd go on to become "Velvet Kevorkian" by Strapping Young Lad and "Man" by Hevy Devy himself, but ultimately, outside of the novelty of hearing Devin Townsend pulling out his musical skeletons out of the closet for all to see, it's not really an essential listen, because everything on here is more "LISTEN TO HOW KOOKY I AM" than anything else, even if "Rain" and "Ascent to the Summit of Black Mountain" are pretty alright for what they are.. And don't get me started on how weird it was to hear Devin do a funk-metal song with "Thick Stock (with TM Stevens)", like the motherfucker was listening to a little bit -too- much Primus, but hey, it is what it is, it be what it do, and Vince Vaughn still looks a shitload like the protagonist of Capcom's "Dead Rising", Frank West. Thought about it recently? I bet you are now.
