R.A. the Rugged Man - Legendary Classics Volume 1 (2009)
Are they really, though?
A compilation album of his various features and rare songs, which explains how disjointed this shit is: It can range in quality pretty surprisingly. You hear the LEGENDARY and CLASSIC song "Uncommon Valor (A Vietnam Story) (Feat. R.A. the Rugged Man)" by Jedi Mind Tricks on this compilation, and it's so fucking GREAT it hurts. It's one of my favorite hip-hop songs ever due to R.A.'s incredible verse that'll have your jaw dropping at such a high speed and power that it'll crack cement, but then you get to shit like "What the Fuck (Feat. Akinyele)" and you realize that even though R.A. is a great rapper who's done his time and has some great tracks in his discography, he's only as good as the actual songs are, which can be weighed down like a bloated carcass attached to a cement block by subpar beats and/or hooks.
There's a few good tracks on here, like "Stanley Kubrick" and more notably "Who's Dat Guy (Feat. Havoc)" which contains a generally unheard of thing on the album: A GOOD BEAT!! Only one track on here I'd call legendary ("Uncommon Valor (A Vietnam Story) (Feat. R.A. the Rugged Man)" by Jedi Mind Tricks)", one I'd call classic "Cunt Renaissance (Feat. The Notorious B.I.G.)", a few good tracks that make you think "Why didn't he get more popular?", and a lot I'm either indifferent to or just don't want to hear again anytime soon, despite him being ridiculously talented at rapping. Who knows what Volume 2 would consist of, if he already came out with his biggest guns drawn immediately with this compilation.
AND YOU BET YOUR SWEET TIGHT ASS I'M GONNA SUE THE SHIT OUT OF HIM FOR THIS ALBUM TITLE
6/10
